Comfort Quilters

Mondays at 10:00am

The Comfort Quilters came about when a group of women felt a need for a way to provide solace to people who were going through a crisis in their lives and who might find comfort in know that others were praying for them. After doing research on prayer quilts, the group decided to create quilts for those in need.

Prayer Quilt Ministry

Prayers & Squares is an interfaith outreach ministry that combines the gift of prayer with the gift of a hand-tied quilt.

The “Three Commandments“ of Prayers & Squares

  1. “It’s not about the quilt, it’s all about the prayers.” Make prayer the purpose of the ministry.

  2. ASK before giving the gift of a prayer quilt; surprises are not appropriate. Ask if the person receiving the quilt will accept the gift of prayer. Ask what they would like the group to pray for and what information about their situation may be shared with others.

  3. Do not accept any form of payment for a prayer quilt.

Comfort Quilters

Anyone can request a quilt for another person who is in special need of prayer. We refer to the requester as the quilt’s “sponsor”.

The sponsor needs to:

  • Contact Comfort Quilters (Charlet Bachuss)

  • Ask the quilt recipient to agree to accept the gift of prayer in the form of a quilt.

Comfort Quilters
  • Ask the quilt recipient for their specific prayer requests.

  • Contact the NLBF Prayer group with their name and prayer requests.

  • Be present at all the services to present the quilt.

Comfort Quilters
  • Be present with the quilt after each service as prayers are offered during the tying of the quilt. Invite friends and family to participate.

  • (Optional) Provide a photo of the recipient to display during the tying/praying process. This helps others to focus on the person.

  • Deliver the quilt to the recipient.
